Way To Go, Idaho!

Well, I have to say we are very impressed with life on this side of the Mississippi. I think we would consider Wisconsin, Minnesota, Montana, or Idaho as a future home site. We have seen more mule deer and staghorn antelope that you would believe. Fortunately, we are off the road prior to dusk (so we don't have to worry about them jumping in front of us).

The weather has been good to us with just a couple of flurries; from our brief stop in the pass into Idaho we can tell we have been very blessed! The Welcome to Idaho sign was only legible to the "Welcome to"

Our big news is Grayson got his first tooth today! I am a little sad that our last toothless grin is gone! He hasn't been eating a lot (which is way different from normal, so we should have known it was coming) but we just thought it was the traveling.

We also splurged our last night in Rapid City and bought bathing suites. I know they will come in little use in AK but we have started doing nightly swims/pool time at the hotels. We switch off watching Grayson. Landon is loving it! I may turn him into a swimmer yet!

Windy, windy, windy...

Another 400 miles down....We stopped a little early today due to high head winds that were making driving a challenge and reaking havoc on our gas mileage. We are going to try to head out before the snow tomorrow.

Only about 1000 miles to go until we can rest before heading out to sea.

Keystone, SD

We had an awesome time yesterday exploring SD's Black Hills. As we crossed the border to SD a few days ago Landon said,"Woo hoo, South Dakota is where I get to have some fun." Yesterday, we must have succeeded because he said he enjoyed everything we did. We headed out early and saw Mount Rushmore...which Landon had a hard time remembering calling it, Mountain brushing and Mt Russian. We then headed to Crazy Horse and finally to Custer State Park. The state park was awesome, we saw mule deer, white tail deer, turkeys, prairie dogs, staghorn, and bison. Pictures will definately follow as you know we took plenty.

Well, we are off on the road again.....

I just added a picture of the parking lot from today. It was fun learning to walk on ice again...especially carrying the baby!

Snow & Ice Closures...

Well, our stop was timed pretty well as we pulled off the road last night we were hit with snow and ice. We had already planned a three day stay here. It cleared up a little this afternoon and we visited Dinosaur Park, only to find that it is closed for the winter. Landon is going to have a hard time in Alaska as he never wants to wear his coat anymore! We decided to go to the Journey Museum which was really neat. The exhibits basically went from prehistoric to today. It was really cool and had lots of hands on exhibits. Lunch was at an old firehouse converted to a restaurant. The town is also filled with bronze statues of the President's and other historically significant people.

We ended the day with a showing of Horton the Elephant. The baby and I spent most of the time walking the halls of the theatre.....I guess there will be no more movies for the next two years for him.

Snow on the Way

Well we are about to head out for our third days' drive (1150 miles behind). The boys have done well. Landon gives us a play by play of what is happenning in the back seat and on his movies. We laugh and tell him to keep us informed. He says "Informed? What does that mean?"

Well....off to the road.....

On the road again...

Well we are off on our long journey to AK. The boys were great yesterday and we had good traveling weather. We are extremely thankful for the 600 miles we have behind us. Only about 3000 more road miles to go.

Until I locate the USB cord. Our blogs will be pictureless.....but hopefully we will be able to keep you up to date on our whereabouts.

Another little trip

We took another trip to visit Daddy briefly at the beach before heading to our nation's capitol. It was a stormy day, but we had a blast at the Smithsonian. Landon loved the dinosaurs. It was a good time to reflect on what our forefathers had intended for this nation and their strong beliefs. We were truely blessed by a safe trip. Our only problem was locating a parking garage that was actually open!

Down at the Beach

We took a little trip over President's Day to visit Daddy at the beach. We had a great time. Landon climbed to the top of the Fort Story lighthouse. Actually he was carried and then it took some convincing for Daddy to get him off the ground. It was a cool trip and both the boys really are missing their Dad!
