Boat trip...

The ferry trip was three days filled with great scenery through the Inside Passage. We started in Bellingham, WA and sailed the first day without stopping. The ferry then pulled in to several ports before we got off in Haines, Alaska. The trip was about 1050 miles and follows the Inside Passage using a similar route to a cruise ship. It's kind of like taking a school bus instead of a luxury tour bus. The people were friendly and curtious. At times we felt like we were people in the mist (cold, wet, rainy). We got to see Dahl's porpoises (no good pics) and icebergs. The first night, the ferry was escorted to the Canadian border by two small U.S. Coast Guard vessels. Landon demonstrated life jacket safety and was rewarded with free ice cream. We were actually pleasantly surprised by the size of our berthing. Despite the good experience I think we were glad to be off the ferry and back on the road.
