We decided that we would do something different this time and detour to Hope, AK. Hope was founded as part of the Turnagain Arm Goldrush and was experiencing a run of pink salmon while we were there. We choose the Bear Creek Lodge as our home base and really enjoyed the stay. Dinner was absolutely fabulous and not at all what I expected for such a small town. Landon's fear of bugs led to the blindfold as many horseflys appeared to be in town too. We had lunch the next day at Tito's Cafe(?) a relatively new restaurant that was equally scrumptious. If nothing else the trip to Hope was worth it for the food! The kids had a blast at the lodge and enjoyed the canoe and paddleboat as well as a Smore fest with marshmellows graciously provided by our host Kent and Melanie Bowman.
