An actual amphibian

Since moving to Alaska we have become devoid of all contact with reptiles and amphibians. I have been told that it is the fact that the summers don't get warm enough for reptiles and that it has nothing to do with the winters being to cold. This is probably true because many midwest states see winters colder than we have here but have much warmer summers and their share of reptiles. In fact, there are no reptiles native to Alaska and there are only 7 species of amphibians that live in the state. The only amphibian present in our area is the wood frog. We rarely see them but Chase was able to spot this guy in our back yard. I picked the frog up and immediately heard the squeals of all the little boys who are not use to see this type of creature. Chase was just as happy to play with the frog as I was...another young scientist in the making! The last two pictures are for Layne. The first, so he can see that Dino is doing well and looks pretty good with his summer coat, and the second of our cherry tree and it's bounty. I am hoping that the cherries do better than the strawberries. I caught Dino eating my not yet ripe strawberries today. This is a serious issue because fresh fruit is a rare find!
