Happy Valentine's Day

We've gotten behind on our posts, so there are several added today using pics taken over the last couple of weeks. Landon and Grayson gave mommy a valentine candy box this morning, then spent the next hour eating it for her. Not too much else happening around the McDowell house this past week. Jolene deep fried some more of our halibut that we caught out on the charter with Honey, Gramps and Hunter this summer. Can't beat fried halibut, especially after enduring the exhaustion of pulling those big fish up from 500 ft below the surface!

A Day on the Flats

The Moose had a busy day browsing the hayflats. We've seen more and more of them these last few weeks. It's that time of year when they are getting a little more hungry as their winter store of fat is beginning to run out. So they spend more time during the daylight out in the open eating on whatever they can find. This time of year, and the rut in September, is when you'll see them up close more often than the rest of the year. They don't even flinch when the occasional snowmachine or two passes by.
Dino spent the week tearing up his dog house, so we had to spend a day searching around Anchorage for one that was a little sturdier. Hopefully it will last longer. We also got him another Dino-sized bone to keep him occupied.

Moose Car Wash

The snow is coming in small amounts this year. We've had several snows of less than 6 six inches each, but only one snowfall of more than a foot (that was back in December). Last weekend Grayson helped Pappy shovel the driveway. One morning during the week, after Jolene and I had left for work, a couple of moose visited the driveway and decided to give Pappy's car a wash. They didn't do a very good job as a car wash, but were really only going after the little bit of salt they could taste that had splashed up from the road onto the car. Pappy didn't think it was funny!
