It's Twins!

Momma moose had her babies this week, apparently she was looking extra large because she was carrying twins. From the little research I have done it looks like moose have twins in a three year cycle. It was pretty cool to see.

When Brother's Away

With brother off on a playdate, Grayson had his only little date with mom and the camera. It has been a long while since I took photos of my "baby" just for fun. Please note that he took the moment to be brave and remove his hands from the chair, of course he stood for only a split second before he went plop on his bottom! The fussy picture was actually the last one taken...nap time.

Landon's First Fish

We headed back to Clunie Lake for Memorial Day and the boys were able to catch (and release) a few trout. Landon said he is now ready to catch a salmon. The King's should start running this weekend so I am sure we will be off and fishing again. The last three shots are the one that got away and Landon 's reaction to it. He was a little nervous around the wiggly fish.

Fishing at Clunie Lake

Yesterday we took a family fishing trip to Clunie Lake. No fish were caught and Layne got to learn the joys of fishing with two small children...more time spent untangling lines than actual poles in the water. The lake was beautiful and we got to watch a couple of baby river otters swim up and down the bank.

Moose and Man

I've failed to mention that on the weekends we usually receive a fair amount of air traffic as well as moose traffic. I guess both moose and man recognized it was a holiday weekend!

Chair walking

Yesterday Grayson decided that he could pull himself up and walk by pushing a chair across the room. This is a big change for him because he hasn't really been pulling himself up much. Big brother was a little jealous of the attention and wanted to be in all the pictures too. They are both still cutie pies.

Moose for Breakfast

I was fixing the boys breakfast this morning when Landon yelled, "Mom you gotta look at this." I glanced out the window to see Milli moose (center pic) grazing just down the bluff from the house. I wasn't sure if it was Milli because she is looking very pregnant. We took pictures for about 30 minutes when suddenly movement from my left caught my eye. It was Max (1st and last pic) walking up the bluff's slope. I got a couple quick shots before she headed toward her mom. These pictures are not edited or cropped. They are taken from our breakfast nook. Enjoy!

Bodenburg Butte

Saturday afternoon we headed out on a hike up Bodenburg Butte. It is only about 850 ft in elevation but most of the hike seems straight up! The butte doesn't look that tall from our house where you can see it off in the distance. There were even guide ropes and bolders to scraggle over. It definately was not an easy hike! The view from the top was very nice and we enjoyed a break with some refreshments. You felt like you were on the top of the world. You could see Knik glacier and the Chugach mountain range. Landon ran most of the way...we wish we had the energy to do that! He got discouraged on the way down and didn't think he was going to make it...until we started racing from tree to tree. Grayson had a good time and said, "ugh, ugh" to just about everything we passed.
