Whidbey Wonders!

Yesterday we took some time to hike in Deception Pass State Park and to see the beach at Whidbey Island NAS. The bridge at Deception Pass was beautiful; hiking across it was interesting. You are separated from the busy road by a small wire fence. The road is so busy, and traffic going so fast, that you are not allowed to cross the street but have to go under the bridge via stairs and come up on the other side. Landon kept wanting to cover his ears because the trucks flying passed you were so loud. The beach was a little boys dream: logs to climb on, jets flying overhead, and rocks, rocks, and more rocks to throw. The day left us saying, "Why oh why not Whidbey?" We wish they'd fly Layne's jet out of this air base but since they don't our chances of getting to live there are minimal. Hopefully, they'll decide to move a few here the location is awesome.

Landon picked out his own hiking stick yesterday. He just picked it up and started walking with it. He will be sad to know that it cannot go to Canada with us (no firewood allowed).

Tomorrow afternoon we catch the ferry to Alaska, so there will probably be no more communication for a few days. We hope to be in Anchorage by the 9th....but we'll see. We have been led safely through so far so we will have faith that it will continue.
