A Visit From a Friend

My friend and Naval Academy classmate, Eric Jakubowski, stopped by on a layover through Anchorage. He retired from the Marine Corps, and now flies for Delta. We headed down to the Creek to give him the full Alaskan fishing experience.

The sockeyes were running, not in large numbers, but large enough to bring some home.

We enjoyed the visit, and catching back up again.

The next weekend, Landon, Grayson and I hit the timing just right, and we all limited out.

These salmon, along with the previous couple of weeks' catches, are now in the freezer, ready to be turned into some warm, flavorful meals throughout the long winter ahead. A couple more weekend limits like this and we'll have plenty for the year.

Also, as summer grows short, the boys finished up a couple of their home improvement projects. They re-stained and water-sealed the deck.

And Grayson finished staining the man-door to the garage while Landon was at Bible Camp.

Only a couple of smaller projects to go, but with the salmon running, and moose/caribou hunts coming up, there won't be much time for anything else between now and November.
