The Texas side of the family is in for a visit. We spend their first day relaxing and visiting the Iditarod Visitor's Center. The kids all enjoyed visiting with Raymie Redington's puppies and getting a ride on the dog cart. Landon, Kate, and Laura made three trips! Inside, we had the opportunity to meet Dick Mackey who won the Iditarod in 1978 by 1 second. His son, Lance Mackey, has won the last three Iditarods. We followed up the dinner by a short hike on the hay flats. Layne tested everyone's mosquito tolerance and riskiness by seeing if we could cross a bridge made from a railroad tie....luckily everyone did a great job. Weather remains warm and the air a little smokey. Hopefully, the clearing skies will come soon.
